"Ai" means food in Hawaiian and "kahu" means guardian. As lovers of the culinary industry, we strive to educate and preserve the integrity and the magic of the culinary world.
Ai Kahu was founded with the intention to help bring awareness and preserve the integrity, and the love each of us has for food, the purity of ingredients and the magic it holds in brining all people together.
All training vary in length, but our two most common trainings are listed below:
The ServSafe™ Manager Training is about 8 hours with exam. Participants are expected to study their text books in advance as much as possible.
The ServSafe™ FoodHandler Training is about 2.5 hours with a short break.
Each certificate is valid from the National Restaurant Association and will depend on the type of training you complete.
This training may be mandatory in your state, it is best to check with your local health department to ensure accuracy of requirements. In the State of Hawaii, the ServSafe™ FoodHandler certification is mandatory and enforceable beginning September 2, 2018.
Read our post of an article written by Timothy Hurley of the Honolulu Star Advertiser regarding the specifics.
Each training is different, but a participant guide or workbook is included, along with a certificate where applicable.
Exam results are generally available about 2 weeks from the date of the exam. If you've left us your email, we'll email you if you passed or need to schedule a retake, along with a copy of your certificate.
